cold-brewed iced coffee

Coffee is a really big deal to me.

Kind of in the same way that meth is a big deal to some people.

I drink drip. I drink fresh-ground beans. I drink dark roast and light roast.

I drink lattes. I drink cappuccinos. (I don’t drink cloying, sickly-sweet, more-cream-than-coffee beverages.)

I drink it black. I drink it with almond milk and stevia. I drink your milkshake! I drink it up.

I only started to drink iced coffee the summer after my senior year of high school. Iced coffee is addictive. It is especially addictive in the summer time, when caffeine can be the only thing that gets you out of bed and off to work in the morning but you can’t bear the thought of drinking something over 50°F.

If you are not yet addicted to cold-brewed, iced coffee, I highly suggest that you addict yourself immediately. It’s disgustingly easy and you’ll never look back.

Cold-brewed Iced Coffee. Yields 3 cups of concentrate.

Combine 1/3 c. course-ground coffee grounds with 3 c. cold water. Stir and let sit overnight. (Optional: throw in a cinnamon stick while it sits.) In the morning, pour coffee mixture through a fine-mesh sieve. Refrigerate. When you’re ready for a glass, dilute with an equal (or just-less-than-equal) amount of water or milk. Add some iced coffee-concentrate ice cubes.

  1. I just posted this link on both my room mates facebooks because they make the NASTIEST coffee bahaha!

  2. Thanks for the tutorial! I really need ice coffee making tips, because I love it, but have never really known the best way to do it. Another fun tip I’ve heard of is freezing the coffee in ice cube trays, so that it doesn’t water it down! :)
